What to Expect From a Boudoir Session

Many clients who reach out are considering boudoir photography for the first time. Not knowing what the experience involves is normal. Marggie spends about an hour on your hair and makeup before we start, and I direct you through every pose once we do.

Before Your Session

The process typically begins with a brief conversation, either by email or phone, about your goals, comfort level, and any questions you might have. It is a chance to talk through the details and make sure the experience feels right before scheduling. If you would like to see the space first, you can visit the studio before booking, with no camera out.

There is no preparation expertise required. You do not need to know how to pose, what angles work best, or what will look good on camera. We handle styling, movement, and pacing during the session itself. All I ask of you beforehand is to show up.

Arrival and Studio Environment

Sessions take place in a private Austin studio, one client at a time. During your session the only people in the room are Marggie and me, plus a friend if you choose to bring one. You get time to settle in before anything begins. There is a fuller answer on who sees your photos and how private they stay.

During the Session

I direct you through the entire session, including posing, movement, expression, and positioning. When something needs adjusting, I tell you what to change and show you. If something feels uncomfortable or you need a moment, take a break whenever you like.

You remain in control at all times. Comfort levels can shift during a session, and that is normal. If you decide to try something different or scale back, we change course without question.

Hair, Makeup, and Styling

Professional hair and makeup is included with every session. Marggie does it, and it takes about an hour. You do not need to arrive camera-ready or styled in any particular way. She aims for a natural, polished look that photographs well and shapes it around what you like. She stays in the room through the whole session, so she can adjust things as it goes on.

After the Session

After your session, I review and retouch every image myself. Your private, password-protected online gallery arrives within a few weeks, with your final images and full personal printing rights. Digital images are always included.

Printed products such as albums, wall art, and fine art prints are available if you want them. There is no pressure to purchase anything beyond the session itself. Many clients choose to keep things digital, while others add prints later.
